Full Time Associate Pastor

Salem Reformed Church in Hagerstown, MD is seeking to fill a new position of a full-time Associate Pastor. Our church dates back to her founding in 1747 and is a member of the Evangelical Association of Reformed & Congregational Christian Churches. The church has one worship service (blended) on Sundays with well attended adult and children Sunday School classes. Other ministries/gatherings take place during the week. We are looking for an Associate Pastor to focus on Family and Prayer Ministries, and assist the Senior Pastor in general ministries duties. A graduate of a conservative Bible College is preferred. He must see the Bible as the inspired, infallible Word of God and that the only way to salvation is through Jesus Christ.

Cover letter, résumé, three references, and doctrinal statement may be emailed to Pastor Eric Cox at pastor@salemreformedhagerstown.com

Roles of the Associate Pastor and Descriptions

Family Ministries (40%) – The associate pastor will “oversee” all family ministries at Salem. This will consist of current and any new ministries under that umbrella. Ones that exist and have leaders, the associate pastor will simply give oversight, encouragement, and be a resource for those ministries to see them grow and improve. He will not be tasked to “run” those ministries – that would be the role of the ministry leaders (i.e. – youth, men’s, women’s). New ministries will need to be launched by the associate pastor (marriage, parenting, singles, etc).
He would initially need to start and run these ministries until leaders are established to take over.

Prayer Ministries (20%) – The associate pastor will be charged to take over all things related to prayer ministries. That would currently include receiving prayer requests and communicating to the church effectively and updating and producing for the administrator the weekly prayer list for Sunday Worship. He will also be charged with expanding this ministry. A vibrant prayer ministry is a necessity to the life of Salem Reformed!

General Ministries (40%) – The associate pastor will “assist” in general ministry duties. Some of those duties will be set (these will depend on the person’s gifts and talents). Others will be as needed (assistance at funerals, special services, etc.). He will also have a role in the Family Worship Gathering and be part of the preaching team at Salem Reformed.
